{"id":3179,"date":"2023-10-17T15:27:29","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T15:27:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maxrezmedia.com\/website_131ddb8a\/?p=3179"},"modified":"2024-11-21T18:47:03","modified_gmt":"2024-11-21T18:47:03","slug":"is-a-5-us-10-year-bond-yield-inevitable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maxrezmedia.com\/website_131ddb8a\/is-a-5-us-10-year-bond-yield-inevitable\/","title":{"rendered":"Is a 5% US 10-year Bond Yield Inevitable?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Bryan Taylor, Chief Economist, Finaeon<\/p>\n<p>We all know that October is often the turnaround month for stocks.\u00a0\u00a0Two of the most famous stock market crashes in history occurred in October 1929 and in October 1987.\u00a0\u00a0The stock market has also hit bottoms in October 1914 during World War I, in October 1957 when Sputnik was launched, in October 1966 during the Vietnam War, in October 1974 during the Energy Crisis, in October 1990 during the Iraq War, in October 2002 during the Financial Crisis and in October 2022 after the war in Ukraine began. Although September is the worst performing month for stocks, the market often hits bottom in October and begins the best six months of the year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3180 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/maxrezmedia.com\/website_131ddb8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/download-3-16.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"975\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maxrezmedia.com\/website_131ddb8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/download-3-16.png 975w, https:\/\/maxrezmedia.com\/website_131ddb8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/download-3-16-300x140.png 300w, https:\/\/maxrezmedia.com\/website_131ddb8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/download-3-16-768x359.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #04aa9a;\"><b><strong>Figure 1.\u00a0\u00a0United States 10-year Bond Yield, 2013 to 2023<\/strong><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It appears that October is now becoming an important month for bonds as well. As Figure 1 shows, bonds hit their highest levels for the year in both 2022 and in 2023.\u00a0\u00a0Bond yields rose in October 2021, and bond yields peaked in October 2018 before they began their long decline into 2020.
